2020 Money Trail Grants for African, Asian and European Journalists

In Money Trail, Journalismfund.eu offers working grants for mixed teams of African, Asian and European journalists to investigate cross-border illicit financial flows, tax abuse and corruption in Africa, Asia and Europe. Grants are awarded to journalists solely by Journalismfund.eu, with no input or oversight at any stage from the consortium as a whole. This working grants project is part of a larger Money Trail project.

Journalismfund.eu always upholds its grantees’ editorial independence and strives for high journalistic quality and rigour.  Where necessary, Journalismfund.eu mentors and provides technical support to investigative teams that have strong ideas but lack experience and infrastructure for collaborating across borders. Moreover, Journalismfund.eu coordinated and hosted an annual gathering of European investigative and data journalists, the European Investigative Journalism Conference – Dataharvest from 2010 until 2018. At this conference, journalists, data collectors, and other stakeholders from all over Europe network and generate ideas that often lead to new stories and collaborative projects. After incubating the conference for 8 years, Journalismfund.eu decided to make it a stand-alone venture.

They serves the European community of journalists interested in developing best practice in journalism. Its overall objective is to promote and improve the profession in response to the challenges and opportunities stemming from internationalisation, digitalisation, and changing revenue models. Their activities are made possible through the support it receives from public, private, and corporate funders. It extends its gratitude for the generous and consistent support it has received from the Adessium Foundation, the Open Society Foundations, and the Flemish Government.
