Call for entries for The 2024 Ocean Awareness Contest!

Young people can explore their relationship to a changing world, learn about environmental issues via art-making and creative communication, and become advocates for positive change by participating in the 13th annual Ocean Awareness Contest. International students between the ages of 11 and 18 are welcome to take part.

Tell Your Climate tale, the 2024 Ocean Awareness Contest, invites you to become a climate witness and share your own special climate tale. Bow Seat wants you to use your creativity to share your thoughts, ideas, and personal experiences related to our shifting climatic reality. Take advantage of this chance to study about the climate problem, its effects on your town and family, and how you personally respond to our changing global environment.

Submissions are accepted in:

  • Visual Art: Handcrafted
  • Visual Art: Digital
  • Poetry & Spoken Word
  • Creative Writing
  • Film
  • Performing Arts: Music & Dance
  • Interactive & Multimedia

Climate science relies heavily on data. Bow Seat can predict how climate change will affect weather patterns, agricultural practices, and infrastructure based on data that indicates it is occurring. It is among the main dangers to our waters as well. Although it is crucial to comprehend this, the data frequently seems too far removed from ordinary life. You can close the knowledge gap between the data and your reality by sharing your climate story. Narrating a personal tale via art, literature, dance, film, and other mediums has significant impact. You may encourage people to relate to these concerns in fresh and contemporary ways by using the arts.

It’s not necessary for your climate tale to involve a natural disaster like severe weather or wildfires. You can concentrate on how eating habits, athletic activities, and travel plans are being affected by climate change. You can explain how you find inspiration and strength in our changing planet, or you can celebrate climate solutions in your town or in the initiatives you have taken part in. All of them fit into your story about the climate. Bow Seat hopes you will discover community and realise that you are not alone in experiencing and feeling some of the same things as people around the world. Expressing your feelings about climate change can be healing.
