Applications for ANT Mobility Fund for Individual Artists/Arts Professionals 2019 organized by Pro Helvetia Johannesburg in partnership with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation are now open. Through the ANT Mobility (Individuals) funding stream Pro Helvetia Johannesburg supports individual artists and arts professionals across all arts disciplines and fields who are professionally active in the field of arts and culture.
In the last three years, the impact of the programme has increased substantially both in geographical reach and impact, with the support touching approximately 1 200 arts professionals across 135 projects and residencies in the region. These activities have traversed all fifteen countries in the region, with an especially significant footprint in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Madagascar.
Aside from enabling the development of new and relevant works across diverse fields of practice, the most important result of the programme has however been the web of connections and relationships between individuals, projects and initiatives across the region that it has enabled.
The programme for the 2018 – 2020 period continues in this vein, assisting in the development of a more connected cultural field in the Southern African region, supporting transnational collaboration, circulation of relevant new work and skills/knowledge exchange.

The primary focus of Ant Mobility (Individuals is to assist individual artists and arts professionals (curators, organisers, arts managers, etc) to be able to travel across national borders in the region for the purposes of:

  • research and project development,
  • collaboration across national borders,
  • professional exchanges,
  • and touring/presentation of work.

Benefits

  • Successful proposals will be supported for up to a maximum amount of ZAR36000/US$3000
  • This support will be for:
    • local and international travel within and between the aforementioned countries,
    • accommodation costs (up to a maximum period of one month),
    • visa fees where relevant,
    • reasonable travel insurance costs where relevant,
    • material/production costs not exceeding US$ 500,
    • administrative costs (not exceeding 5% of the budget).

Eligibilities

  • Open to individual artists and arts professionals (curators, organisers, arts managers, etc.)
  • Activities and Projects should involve mobility between two or more of the following countries:Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Seychelles, Tanzania (including Zanzibar), Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
