The programme combines academic learning with hands-on experiences in a very unique way. Alongside the master’s degree, fellows participate in mentoring sessions, simulation exercises, institutional visits, peer discussions, and one-on-one guidance from experienced professionals. These experiences help fellows build confidence, strengthen leadership skills, improve communication abilities, and better understand how policy and decision-making work in real life. The fellowship also encourages collaboration among fellows from different cultural and professional backgrounds, creating an environment where participants can exchange ideas, learn from one another, and develop long-lasting professional relationships.

Another important part of the fellowship is its strong focus on research and policy writing. Fellows are encouraged to develop practical and evidence-based ideas that can contribute to solving real challenges faced by societies in the Global South. This balance between theory and practice makes the programme especially valuable for students who want to create meaningful impact in the future and contribute to more inclusive and sustainable societies.

Successful applicants receive a bursary covering 25 percent of the tuition fees for the 2026/27 academic year, along with £5,000 to support living expenses in London. After completing the MSc programme, fellows may also have the opportunity to undertake a short internship at an international institution or regional centre of excellence.

Overall, the fellowship creates a supportive space for future leaders to learn, connect, and develop the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to peace, security, and development worldwide.
