The Earth Journalism Network (EJN), through its Business and Climate Media Initiative (BCMI), is hosting a five-day Virtual Media Workshop to Strengthen Reporting on Business Engagement with Climate Change in Indonesia for journalists covering business, industry, energy, and environmental issues. The program is designed to enhance the quality and impact of journalism addressing Indonesia’s climate transition as the country works toward its goals of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2060 or earlier.

Set against ongoing challenges such as food insecurity, extreme weather, coal sector dependency, mining impacts, and misinformation around renewable energy, the workshop aims to equip reporters with the expertise needed to critically examine the private sector’s role in climate mitigation and adaptation. Subject-matter experts will provide in-depth training on energy transition frameworks, technological innovation and emerging business opportunities in renewables, environmental, social and governance (ESG) regulations, carbon markets including green and blue carbon mechanisms, and climate finance at both domestic and international levels. Participants will also collaborate on identifying story angles that can illuminate business accountability, labor considerations, and equitable pathways for clean energy and transport development.
