The MENA Scholarship Programme aims to contribute to the societal development of the participating countries in the Middle East and North Africa region. It also seeks to build capacity within organisations by enabling employees to participate in short courses in various fields of study.

The MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP) aims to build bridges through knowledge by offering opportunities for capacity building within organisations in the Middle East and North Africa. It enables young professional impact makers to take part in short courses in the Netherlands, and it facilitates tailor made training for organisations in the region.

The MSP focuses on building strong relations between the participating countries and the Netherlands by fostering strong alumni networks. It contributes to mutual understanding and knowledge sharing. The programme is funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the Shiraka programme and managed by Nuffic.

Once application is submitted , several assessments will take place:

The Hague Academy will assess application first based on whether candidates meet the eligibility criteria, the relevance of the course for the work and position, motivation and the required documents. If candidates meet all the academic and eligibility requirements, they will receive an invitation from The Hague Academy to proceed with the final step in the application procedure: registering in Delta, Nuffic’s database., Then, the Embassies of the Netherlands in each country will assess and score the applications based on the country’s focus., After these two assessments, Nuffic selects the awarded candidates. They will allocate scholarships according to the available budget and the criteria set out the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs., Applicants will be notified by The Hague Academy regarding the outcome of the selection.

Please note that there is an early-bird deadline for the current scholarship application round. Eligible candidates who submit their application before the early-bird deadline of 19 July 2023 will benefit from our assessment and, if needed, will receive feedback to improve their application.
