- Applicants who hold dual citizenship.
- Applicants holding an offer on a course other than a course specified above.
- Applicants who will NOT commence their course in September 2022 – applicants holding offers for deferred entry must apply for scholarships in the month and year they intend to start their course and not in the year of their course application.
- Undergraduate applicants entering a course at any level.
- Applicants applying for part time, distance learning or online version of the above courses.
- An employee, a former employee, or relative* of an employee of Her Majesty’s Government (including British
- Embassies/High Commissions; the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; Department for
- International Trade; the Ministry of Defence; and the Home Office).
- An employee, a former employee, or relative* of an employee of the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM – eligible countries.
- Any applicant currently in receipt of financial support or funding towards a study programme in the UK from any other source.
- Have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government-funded scholarship or a UK institutional scholarship/financial bursary.

The Scholarship is fully funded and covers:
- Tuition fees
- Monthly stipend (up to 12 months)
- Return economy-class travel
- IELTS exam fee (for scholars without a valid test of English)
- Visa and Insurance/ NHS surcharge cost
- Child allowance (where applicable)
Eligibilities
To be eligible for a British Council Scholarship for Women in STEM an applicant must:
- Apply for and fulfil the entry criteria for admission to the following full-time courses, as confirmed by the British Council:
- MSc Sustainable Electrical Power (FT)
- MSc Renewable Energy Engineering (FT)
- MSc Water Engineering (FT)
- MSc Environmental Management (FT)
- MRes Environmental Sciences (FT)
- MSc Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Design (FT)
- MSc Public Health and Health Promotion (FT)
- MSc Disease Mechanism and Therapeutics (FT)
- Be in receipt of an offer to study on one of the above programmes starting in September 2022.
- Have been assessed by Brunel University London as an international student for tuition fee purposes.
- Applicants who are unsure of their fee status should note Brunel uses the information you have provided in your application form to assess your fee status against regulations set by the UK government. For information on these regulations please visit the independent organisation UKCISA’s website.
- Be in receipt of an Academic Unconditional Firm offer of place on one of the above courses by 31 July 2022.
- Demonstrate a need for financial support.
- Have an undergraduate degree that will enable them to gain access onto one of the eligible Brunel MSc courses.
- Attain the level of English required for the chosen postgraduate course at a UK university.
- Demonstrate they are active in the field with work experience or a proven interest in their subject area.
- Willing to demonstrate future contribution to capacity-building and socio-economic advancement through the benefits achieved after graduating and returning to home country.
- Agree that personal data can be shared with the British Council as a condition of applying for the scholarship.
- Be willing to engage as a committed British Council scholarship alumni.
- Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your scholarship award has ended.
Application Process
- Applicants should apply for their chosen programme (see eligible programmes below) in the usual way, via UCAS or via the Brunel online application portal.
- To be considered for the scholarship applicants must complete a scholarship application form, applicants will be required to explain why they would be a suitable recipient of the Scholarship.
- Applications must be submitted by 09 March 2022. Late applicants cannot be accepted.
- Data pertaining to scholarship holders such as: progression rates, degree attainment, degree completion, and graduate outcomes may also be analysed in order to understand the effectiveness of bursaries and scholarships.
