Restless Development is a global agency for youth-led development, supporting young people to demand and deliver a just and sustainable world for all. Through ten global Hubs, their work is delivered by young people, for young people, giving them the skills and resources to deal with the issues facing their communities and countries.

Education for Restless Development is about how young people are able to navigate adolescence, claim power and become leaders in their communities. Only then will they be able to tackle the biggest problems on the planet. They believe that young people can do this not only in the classroom but in global forums. They work with young leaders at scale – connecting a global network of young people to power – be it their local, national or global leaders. They are always working with young leaders to strengthen systems, inform, disrupt and ultimately collaborate in bringing about change. Through their policy work targeting decision-makers globally, they are ensuring that young people’s voices are being heard not only in their local communities but right the way up to world leaders.

The role:

Through their partnership with the Dubai Cares, they will use their established youth-led research approach to work with a group of 10 youth researchers from Asia, Africa, Carribeans, North America, South America, Europe, and Australia to gain insights on youth education, skills and the future of work. Because this research comes in the middle of the COVID pandemic, they want to ensure that they acknowledge this in the research design. So, they will also be capturing insights on the involvement of young people in local and national responses; what can be done to ‘build forward’ after the pandemic; and the role for youth leadership and participation in doing so.

They are looking for youth-researchers with a passion for youth activism, community engagement, and youth participation, especially in the areas of education and work.

Through the research process, you will have the possibility of connecting with a group of other diverse young people from all over the world and share your lived experiences. Ultimately, the research will inform key conversations at the RewirED Summit led by Dubai Cares. The key findings will be processed into communication products to be shared at the RewirED Summit sparking conversations by governments, UN agencies, private sector and civil society to put youth at the heart of rewiring policies on education and the future of work and recovery from Covid-19. In the process, you will experience the values and principles of participatory research.
