Selected candidates will be required to provide proof of sufficient financial means to purchase their flight ticket and to cover their living expenses during the first month prior to obtaining their visa. Preference for single applicants, as the assistant’s salary is not sufficient to support dependents. Candidates must select one of the ten Alliances Françaises or the Institut Français du Nigeria as their Professeur Évaluateur. Applications without this will be disqualified. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed either physically or online at designated centers (Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Enugu, Kaduna, Owerri, Ilorin, Kano, Jos, or Maiduguri). This program is designed to strengthen cultural and educational ties between Nigeria and France by giving young Nigerians the chance to teach English, improve their French, and gain international professional experience in a structured environment. It’s both a career-building and cultural exchange opportunity.
The ALVE (Assistants de Langue Vivants à l’Étranger) program is a French government initiative that places young professionals as English Language Assistants in French schools.
Strong academic background and teaching/volunteering experience improve chances. English assistants are recruited from countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, USA, UK, Canada, India, and others. “Assistants-Ambassadeurs” initiative promotes France and the program through alumni networks. The alumni association AILE was created in 2023.
