The World Food Program (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. WFP is currently seeking to fill an intern position in The UN System and Multilateral Engagement Division, based in New York USA.
The UN System and Multilateral Engagement Division, based in New York, is a key interface between WFP and international political, peace and security, development, and humanitarian actors. The Division works to galvanize WFP’s government partners to fulfill their commitments under the 2030 Agenda, mobilizing attention and efforts towards a world without hunger.
The Multilateral Division is seeking to fill 3 intern positions, based in New York. The internship is for 8 months, starting in November 2023.
The intern will be responsible for assisting WFP staff members with all activities related to General Assembly, Special Sessions, Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Security Council, and other intergovernmental fora, including preparatory meeting and preparing NFRs on key points and outcomes. The intern will also attend country-specific or regional taskforces, UN Development Group (UNDG), UN Reform, Development, Programming Tools, and thematic and cross-cutting issues, including Sustainable Development Goals, Climate Change, HIV/AIDS, Nutrition, Emergency Preparedness, Humanitarian/Development Funding and Financing, and Gender.
The intern will also support the planning and execution of events hosted by WFP in inter-governmental and inter-agency fora. In consultation and coordination with other colleagues, the intern will regularly monitor issues of relevance to WFP, contribute to data analysis, and produce quick guides and other communication products.
To be eligible for the internship, candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program (within six months prior to the application to the internship program) from a recognized university. Candidates must also have university course attendance in the past 12 months. Experience working with the UN system is preferred.
Candidates must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and have an excellent command of English and excellent writing skills. Data visualization, design, information products (e.g., Tableau, Publisher), and analysis is preferred. Experience working and/or studying in a country other than the one in which you reside is also preferred.
The internship is a great opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain experience working with the UN system and to learn more about WFP’s work. It is also a great opportunity to develop skills in data analysis, writing, and communication.

Eligibilities
