UNICEF, originally called the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund in full, now officially United Nations Children’s Fund, is an agency of the United Nations responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. The agency is among the most widespread and recognizable social welfare organizations in the world, with a presence in 192 countries and territories. UNICEF’s activities include providing immunizations and disease prevention, administering treatment for children and mothers with HIV, enhancing childhood and maternal nutrition, improving sanitation, promoting education, and providing emergency relief in response to disasters.

Pakistan was the sixth country in the world to sign and ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child, less than one year after it was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1989. However, children and adolescents living in Pakistan still face acute challenges.
UNICEF supports the Government of Pakistan to accelerate progress for children, work to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and help children realize their rights under the Convention on the Rights of Children. This will be made through, among others things, strong partnerships with provincial authorities, teachers and health professionals, frontline workers and social mobilisers, communities and families, and of course the children and adolescents themselves.
In particular, UNICEF will work so that:
- Every child survives and thrives — being in good health, immunized, protected from polio and accessing nutritious food.
- Every child learns.
- Every child is protected from violence and exploitation and registered at birth.
- Every child lives in a safe and clean environment, with access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation.
Under the guidance of the Public Partnerships Specialist, the intern will provide support for the Pakistan Country Office donor reporting process and knowledge management. The Partnerships Intern will be responsible for the following:
1. Supporting on donor reporting
2. Putting together and maintaining a contacts’ list for UNICEF PCO’s donors
3. Designing knowledge management products
4. Taking part in the Partnerships & Resource Mobilization Section’s meetings.
Deliverables and Schedules:
▪ Keep track of donor reporting schedules
▪ Follow up with Sections on their input for donor reports
▪ Upload donor reports on the system
▪ Analyse the funding interests of donors
▪ Design briefs on programmatic and field information
▪ Design infographics and other data visuals to be used with donors
▪ Put together a contacts’ list for UNICEF PCO’s donors
▪ Update the contacts’ list on a regular basis
▪ Take part in the Partnerships section’s meetings and take minutes
▪ Provide support to additional deliverables as requested

Eligibilities
- Enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years from one of the following fields: international relations, political science, communications, international development, or any related field.
- Excellent command of English. Fluency in Urdu is an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel);
- Proofreading and editing skills.
- Ability to create, compose and edit written materials.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Ability to prioritize work and complete tasks with quick turnaround
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Good attention to detail, creativity, analysis, and focus.
- High motivation to learn.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
- Must have proof of medical insurance covering their time at the duty station.
- Have NO immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and have no other relatives in the line of authority that the intern will report to; and are not disqualified under the UNICEF Child Safeguarding Personnel Standards (DHR/STANDARDS/2019/001), or as amended.
