The Federal Reserve System is the central bank of the United States. Congress created the Federal Reserve through a law passed in 1913, charging it with a responsibility to foster a sound banking system and a healthy economy. This broad mission remains today for the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and the 11 other Federal Reserve Banks, each serving a specific region of the country.

The Opportunity and Inclusive Growth Institute (Institute) invites selected scholars to a residency at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis to pursue their research and work on projects related to the Institute’s main mission of increasing economic opportunity and inclusive growth.

Multiple Visiting Scholar positions: typically a nine-month academic year or a three-month quarterly term for scholars. The program typically runs from September 1 through June 30.

Eligibilities

  • All applicants must have a Ph.D. in the social sciences with a demonstrated ability to conduct high-level, peer-reviewed scholarly research.
  • The Institute does not accept applications from doctoral or other graduate students.
