The UN-Habitat Programme Support – Social Media (City Resilience Profiling Programme) internship is for 3 months with the possibility of extension.

The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.

Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities of the interns:

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period.

Under the supporting supervision of the Communications Specialist of the City Resilience Profiling Programme, the intern will:
– Assist in the development of the social media strategy of the Programme.
– Assist in gathering content from experts, specialists, and consultants (external and internal) to create content for the SM and website.
– Research on global events related to Urban Resilience.
– Support the maintenance of the website of the Programme.
– Provide logistical support to upcoming events of the Programme.
– Undertake any other tasks for the Programme, which are in line with the experience of the intern.

Due regard will be paid to the importance of recruiting the staff on as wide a geographical basis as possible. Place team agenda before personal agenda. Supports and acts in accordance with a final group decision, even when such decisions may not entirely reflect own position. Share credit for team accomplishments and accept joint responsibility for team shortcomings.
  3. Client orientation: Consider all those to whom services are provided to be “clients” and seek to see things from clients’ point of view. Establish and maintain productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect. Identify clients’ needs and matches them to appropriate solutions. Monitor ongoing developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed and anticipate problems. Keep clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects. Meet timeline for delivery of products or services to the client.
  4. Education and Skills
  • Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
    • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
    • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
    • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • Preferred Areas of Studies:
    Journalism, Graphic Design, Multimedia Arts and Communications, Communication Sciences, or another field deemed relevant to the subject areas covered by the Programme for the purpose of this internship.

    The Cover Note must include:
    – Title of the degree currently being pursued
    – Graduation Date
    – IT skills and programmes you are proficient in
    – Explain why you are the best candidate for this specific internship
  2. Explain your interest in the United Nations Internship Programme, ensure to include all past work experience (if any).
  3. Proof of enrollment from current University (if not graduated).
  4. A copy of degree certificate (if already graduated).
