The Office of the Executive Director (OED) provides vision, management, and oversight, with a focus on accountability, results, partnerships, and improving the quality and reach of programming for children and young people. OED provides leadership in the pursuit of UNICEF’s mission and sets strategic objectives for the organization, strengthening organizational culture to support staff and ensure an environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected.
The incumbent of this intern appointment is expected to support a range of tasks related to the executive coordination and knowledge and information management related to the Executive Director’s global missions and engagements. The intern will undertake research, organize and develop systems for knowledge management, and support the Front Office in compiling and drafting relevant briefings, documents, and background notes as needed.
Key Expected Results
- Support to the Executive Specialist/Front Office in research and compilation of relevant background documents to support the preparations for external engagements.
- Compilation and summaries of key results and outcomes of engagements for documentation and record keeping.
- Support to Front Office colleagues to streamline knowledge management efforts and systems, gathering information on requirements and preparing guidance material.
- Other tasks related to executive coordination as needed.

Eligibilities
- Education:
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years.
- Undergraduate degree in Law, International Relations, Politics, Communications, Management, or specialized areas of UNICEF’s work. Postgraduate degree or enrollment in a postgraduate programme is desirable but not essential.
- Work Experience:
- 6 months-1 year of work experience in project management, support to a senior organizational leader, communications and writing, or knowledge/data management/documentation.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and drafting/writing skills;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Ability to produce quality work under pressure and maintain discretion;
- Good judgment, initiative, and analytical ability;
- Familiarity or experience with knowledge management and SharePoint sites is desirable.
- Language Requirements:
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
