The SAGFA Fellowship is a pioneering initiative under the Sino-Africa Green Finance Alliance (SAGFA), led by the Africa-China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA) with support from the African Climate Foundation (ACF). This fellowship is designed to build the next generation of African leaders in green finance—empowering policymakers, researchers, and industry professionals with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to drive climate-resilient industrial development across the continent.

The SAGFA Fellowship is a 6-week virtual training program designed to build the capacity of African professionals and emerging leaders in green finance, climate policy, and Africa–China cooperation. In its pilot phase, the SAGFA Fellowship will be delivered entirely online, providing a flexible and accessible platform for participants across Africa. There will be weekly live sessions, expert lectures, and assignments. Participants should expect to commit approximately 3–4 hours per week throughout the 6-week program. Future editions of the fellowship aim to incorporate in-person residencies and industrial immersions, subject to sustainable funding.

The fellowship aims to strengthen Africa’s capacity in green finance and sustainable development. It focuses on enhancing participants’ technical understanding of green finance policies, instruments, and practical implementation strategies tailored to Africa’s unique development needs. Through this program, African professionals gain hands-on tools to design and influence effective green finance programs and partnerships. Additionally, the fellowship fosters collaboration and mutual learning between African and Chinese experts through interactive dialogues and case-based engagements. By promoting advocacy and innovation in sustainable industrialization, the program supports long-term climate resilience and inclusive green growth across the continent.

The Africa-China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA) is a dynamic Sino-African research and policy think tank based in Accra, Ghana, with active teams across Morocco, Tanzania, Tunisia, the DRC, China, the UK, Ethiopia, and Botswana. The Centre is devoted to delivering unbiased policy and market research while offering unique perspectives on Africa-China relations.
