The International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) Global Fellowship is a prestigious career-advancement initiative designed for emerging and mid-career leaders in the performing arts management sector. At its core, the program seeks to bridge the gap between regional arts scenes and the international stage by providing fellows with a platform to exchange innovative ideas, share cultural perspectives, and build lasting professional relationships. Over the course of the fellowship year, participants are integrated into a global network of over 500 leaders from more than 185 cities, representing various disciplines including theater, dance, and music.

A central component of the program is participation in the annual ISPA Congress in New York City. This gathering is not a traditional trade fair but a high-level forum for dialogue on cultural policy, leadership, and the future of the arts. Fellows attend specialized seminars, engage in peer-to-peer workshops, and are paired with a seasoned ISPA member through the “Community Building Program” to help them navigate the network. This structured mentorship ensures that fellows don’t just attend the event but actively participate in the global conversation.
The program places a specific focus on diversifying the global arts community by encouraging applications from individuals in developing economies. By removing financial barriers through travel subsidies and membership coverage, ISPA empowers professionals who might otherwise lack access to such high-level international resources. For many, this fellowship acts as a catalyst, providing the tools and confidence to return to their home regions and implement transformative projects that strengthen their local arts infrastructure while maintaining a vital link to the global community.

- ISPA Global Membership: Fellows receive a one-year membership to ISPA, granting them access to a private member directory, exclusive online content, and year-round digital programming.
- Congress Registration: The fellowship covers the Full Pass registration for the New York ISPA Congress.
- Travel and Financial Support: Selected fellows receive a travel subsidy to assist with flights, accommodation, and per diems.
- Professional Mentorship: Each fellow is paired with an experienced ISPA member who serves as a mentor.
Eligibilities
- Must be currently employed or working as a freelance professional in the performing arts management sector.
- Applicants typically need a minimum of 7 years (for Global Fellowship) of professional experience in the performing arts field.
- Must demonstrate a genuine need for financial assistance to participate in the international congress.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, as it is the primary language of the congress and fellowship activities.
- Must be able to attend the New York ISPA Congress and the dedicated one-day Fellows Seminar in full.
