Millions of children in Nigeria lack access to an excellent education that will give them a successful future. Thus, Teach for Nigeria exists to change this narrative, and break the cycle of ignorance and impoverishment which dwindles our national development and denies us the fulfillment of our vision for a better future.

They recruit Nigeria’s most promising future leaders from varied disciplines to teach in Nigeria’s underserved schools in low-income communities through a highly selective, two-year Fellowship. Their mission is to mobilize leaders who will drive the movement toward educational equity and excellence in Nigeria. Their vision is that one day, every Nigerian child will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education.

The fellowship is an opportunity for Nigeria’s most outstanding university graduates, young professionals, and entrepreneurs from diverse academic backgrounds to serve as full-time teachers (Fellows) in under-resourced schools in low-income communities. Through the six weeks of rigorous and extensive leadership development training, their fellows are well-equipped with outcomes and strategies that will transform the educational trajectory of the students they serve.

As a Fellow, you will set targets and work towards ambitious goals that will put your students on a different life path. The experience will not only develop your leadership skills but also give you first-hand exposure to the educational crisis in our country. It will help you develop an awareness of the wider issues relating to educational inequity – and deepen your understanding of their potential solutions.

The aim is to develop a long-term systemic solution by producing an Alumni of experienced, successful leaders who go on (after two years) to champion the cause in their respective fields, ensuring that one day, all children in Nigeria will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education.

Teach for Nigeria recruits experienced, government-employed public-school teachers, working in our partner states, into the two-year Fellowship. Through their training and leadership development program, these teachers are supported to scale their impact in the classrooms.
