Call for Applications for the ICANN Fellowship Program is open now!
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers Fellowship Program is a global initiative designed to strengthen participation in the multistakeholder model of internet governance. It aims to support individuals from underserved and underrepresented communities by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to actively engage in the global internet policy ecosystem.
Through the program, fellows gain in-depth exposure to how ICANN operates and how decisions around the internet’s unique identifiers such as domain names and IP addresses are coordinated globally. Participants are assigned experienced mentors and undergo structured training before, during, and after an ICANN Public Meeting. This includes capacity-building in technical, policy, and leadership areas, enabling fellows to contribute meaningfully to discussions shaping the future of the internet.

The fellowship is closely tied to ICANN’s public meetings, which serve as major global forums for stakeholders including governments, private sector actors, civil society, and technical experts. Fellows attend these meetings either in person or virtually, depending on the format of the event. When meetings are held physically, selected fellows receive travel support, making participation accessible to individuals who might otherwise be unable to attend.

ICANN, established in 1998, is a nonprofit organization responsible for coordinating the global system of unique internet identifiers. While it does not regulate content or access, its work ensures that the internet remains secure, stable, and interoperable worldwide. By engaging fellows from diverse backgrounds, the program contributes to more inclusive and representative internet governance.
The ICANN Fellowship Program is not limited to a single discipline; participants come from a wide range of professional and academic fields. It serves as a platform for emerging leaders to build expertise, expand professional networks, and play an active role in shaping global digital policy and infrastructure.
