The Alfred Friendly Press Partners Fellowship 2027 is now accepting applications from journalists currently living in the United States. For more than 40 years, Alfred Friendly Press Partners has supported and trained journalists around the world, reaching more than 400 journalists from 90 countries.

This four-week in-person fellowship is designed specifically for foreign journalists living in exile in the United States. The program provides a supportive environment where participants can strengthen their professional skills, build resilience and connect with journalists who share similar experiences and challenges.
The fellowship focuses on four key areas: security, legal knowledge, journalism and entrepreneurship. Through practical training, discussions, mentoring, and collaborative activities, fellows will gain tools to navigate the professional and personal challenges associated with working as a journalist in exile.

A distinctive element of the program is its emphasis on the psychosocial aspects of exile. This important topic is integrated throughout the fellowship, beginning on the first day. Participants will have opportunities to discuss the personal and professional impact of displacement while developing strategies for resilience and well-being.
Beyond skills development, Alfred Friendly Press Partners aims to foster a strong and lasting community among fellows. Bringing together journalists from diverse backgrounds creates opportunities for mutual support, collaboration and the exchange of experiences.

Eligibilities
- Be a foreign journalist currently living in the United States.
- Have professional experience in journalism or media.
- Be interested in strengthening skills in journalism, security, legal issues, and entrepreneurship.
- Be willing to participate in the four-week, in-person fellowship program.
- Be prepared to engage actively in training sessions, discussions, and community-building activities.
- Have an interest in addressing the professional and psychosocial challenges of living and working in exile.
- Be willing to collaborate and share experiences with a diverse community of journalists from different backgrounds.
- Meet any additional eligibility requirements specified by Alfred Friendly Press Partners in the official 2027 application guidelines
