The University of Melbourne is looking for an emerging, motivated Research Fellow for Nueroengineering Research Fellowship to contribute to a multidisciplinary project at the forefront between neuroscience, robotics, and artificial intelligence. This role will work in the Bionics, Biomedical Imaging and Neuroengineering group, comprised of leading internationally recognized researchers. You will work on a multidisciplinary project on perception, navigation, and spatial awareness, in which the insights and mechanisms from neuroscience and the modeling of neural systems, particularly of vision and other sensory systems, can be analyzed and used to inspire applications in autonomous robots and other artificial systems.

  • Salary (in AUD): $91,125 – $97,812 p.a. (Level A) or $102,967 – $122,268 p.a. (Level B). Appointment level based on qualification and experience.

Eligibilities

  • They are looking for a self-motivated individual with the ability to work collaboratively with the team as well as lead their own research activities.
  • A Ph.D. in the area of computational neuroscience, neural modeling, bio-signal or statistical signal processing, or an equivalent qualification
  • A record of quality research
  • Strong theoretical and analytical skills
  • A commitment to pursuing the relevant research topics
  • An ability to show initiative and prioritize tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders including non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work as part of a team
