Call for 1834 Global Fellowship 2027 is open now!!!

The 1834 Global Fellowship is a nine-week leadership and professional development program designed to equip young Black leaders with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to engage meaningfully in global affairs. The fellowship provides participants with an opportunity to explore international issues, develop their understanding of global policy, and connect with professionals working across diplomacy, international development, public policy, and related fields.

Through interactive learning sessions, fellows engage with experienced practitioners and experts on contemporary global issues while developing practical skills in research, analysis, communication, leadership, and advocacy. Participants also work collaboratively in policy teams on real-world global challenges, supported by experienced coaches who help guide their research and policy development.

The program emphasizes both professional growth and community building. Fellows gain access to mentorship and networking opportunities with policymakers, analysts, academics, nonprofit professionals, and other leaders working in global affairs. The fellowship culminates in an in-person summit, providing participants with an opportunity to strengthen their professional networks and engage directly with members of the broader global-affairs community.

    Eligibility

Eligibilities

  • Aged 20 to 30 years old
  • Identify as Black or of African descent
  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents
  • Interested in a career in international development, diplomacy, or Canadian foreign policy
  • Committed to participating in a 9-week virtual program (approx. 3.5 hours per week)
  • Willing and able to travel for the final in-person Summit
