The Global UGRAD Program is accepting applications from students for the 2024-2025 academic year!

Future leaders are brought to the United States through the Global Undergraduate Exchange Programme (Global UGRAD) to experience American higher education, acquire vital professional skills, and discover new cultures and values. World Learning is in charge of overseeing the Global Undergraduate Exchange Programme, which is funded by the US government and supported by the US Department of State.

Over 2,500 Global UGRAD students have had this opportunity since 2008 thanks to World Learning. With the skills necessary to lead in their communities and vocations, participants depart the United States. Alumni of Global UGRAD go on to work in business and government in their home nations and regions, win Fulbright awards, and land renowned international internships.

Program Goals are to promote mutual understanding between people of the United States and other countries.

  • Provide a fulfilling exchange experience to drive academic, cross-cultural, and leadership competencies for students from Global UGRAD countries.
  • Enhance students’ academic knowledge and professional skills needed to pursue long-term academic and career goals.
  • Cultivate students’ comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the U.S.
  • Facilitate opportunities for students to establish social networks with U.S. host institutions and local communities.
  • Empower students to engage constructively in the civic life of their local and global communities.

In addition to sharing their own cultures and distinctive viewpoints in American classrooms, participants at their host institutions study fundamental American principles and culture and develop their professional and leadership abilities. Numerous participants form lifelong relationships with Americans and depart the country with a more sophisticated perspective of their subject of study, their volunteer work, and themselves.

Global UGRAD Participants Are:

  • Excellent cultural ambassadors, who come from underrepresented countries and regions, and add diverse perspectives to U.S. classrooms.
  • High-caliber students, who are selected through a competitive application process and complete an intensive, two-month, virtual skills development course to prepare them for their time in the U.S.
  • Actively engaged on- and off-campus through community service, cultural enrichment, and other skill-building activities.
