Europe means diversity. Experiencing this diversity is corner stone of European integration. Many young Europeans, however, do not get to travel internationally. For them, Europe remains unknown. By awarding travel grants, the Schwarzkopf Foundation seeks to enlarge the number of young travelers in Europe, which in turn fosters European integration and peaceful cooperation on our continent.

Schwarzkopf Foundation awards travel grants to young Europeans who have not been able to travel much themselves yet. There are currently five different travel grants on offer, for which young Europeans between the ages of 18 and 27 can apply.

The travel grants are designed to give young people the opportunity to travel in other European countries. They aim at promoting a deeper understanding of specific cultural or political aspects of European integration on the ground.

Benefits

  • The travel grants finance a trip through Europe and enable the young travelers to explore a political or social topic by doing their own research.
  • Travelers also report on their findings to a larger audience and become ambassadors for a unified Europe.

Eligibilities

  • For most travel grants, applicants must live in Europe, as defined either by membership in the Council of Europe or as being part of the European Union. All details can be found with each travel grant’s terms & conditions on the website.
  • All applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 27.
  • Applicants are preferred who have not traveled extensively yet, as well as those with a background in migration, or those attending vocational schools, or those from rural areas.
