Calling on Southeast Asian, South Asian, and Taiwanese youths, ages 18 to 24, with a passion for women and gender issues in the Indo-Pacific region to apply for the 2nd SEASAT Youth Camp, to be held on 20-23 July 2020 in Taipei, Taiwan! The SEASAT Youth Camp is jointly organized by the TAEF and the 美國在台協會 AIT.

With this year’s theme, “Diverse. Empowered. Inclusive.,” the 2020 SEASAT Youth Camp will bring together 50 promising Asian youths who share the ideals of continuing the progressive momentum for women and gender issues.

In collaboration with the American Institute in Taiwan, the 4-day camp, will expose participants to women and gender issues through seminars, workshops, educational tours, as well as a crash course on basic leadership. The Camp also doubles as a networking platform to further connect the SEASAT Youth.

NOTE: Applications and screening will proceed as scheduled. However, in light of the current international health context, the organizers will continue to monitor the situation and will send updates as the activity dates near.

Benefits

The organizers will cover all local expenses (Taiwan) incurred during the camp, including meals, lodging (4-beds per room), insurance, educational materials, and other miscellaneous fees (museum entrance fees), and local transportation for event-related activities.

NOTE: The organizers will not provide subsidy/sponsorship for airfare and visa. Participants will have to cover/look for external funding for their own round-trip transportation to Taipei, Taiwan.

  • Interest in contemporary Indo-Pacific issues, and youth leadership
  • Interested in women and gender issues
  • Citizens of Southeast Asia, South Asia or Taiwan
  • Holds a passport/Means to travel to Taipei, Taiwan

Application Process

Online applications will remain open until 23:59, 4 April, 2020. Early submission is highly encouraged. Applications sent via e-mail will not be entertained.

As there are limited slots, applications will be screened by a selection committee. Successful applicants will be notified on May 8, 2020 at 13:00 (GMT+8 Taipei Time).

IMPORTANT: Please be advised to wait for selection results before booking your flights. Only successful applicants will be accommodated in the activities during the camp.
