Astrophotographers of all skill levels are invited to submit their best images to the Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2018. This photography competition is held by Royal Museums Greenwich which comprises the Royal Observatory, Cutty Sark, National Maritime Museum and Queen’s House. They’re dedicated to enriching people’s understanding of the sea, the exploration of space, and Britain’s role in world history.
There are eight categories in which participants can enter their photos.
Benefits
- The overall winner is chosen from amongst all the Adult competition category winners. This winner receives the prestigious title of Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year and £10,000
- Each of the eight categories will have three winners:
- Winner: £1500
- Runner-up: £500
- Highly commended: £250
- Two special prizes each will recieve £750
Young Competition Prizes:
- Young Winner: £1500
- Young Runner-up: £500
- Young Highly Commended: £250
All winners will also receive:
- Their winning image displayed in an exhibition at the Royal Observatory Greenwich
- 1 year’s subscription to BBC Sky at Night magazine
- A copy of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year publication.
