• Full Scholarship

The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) invites applications for the 2024 Fulbright Scholar Program.

Approximately 15 scholars will be selected for 2024. Of these, 13 slots are for faculty and researchers in the early stages of their research careers (2-7 years). Two slots are for senior scholars (8-15 years) from the completion of their Ph.D. or terminal degree.

The Fulbright Scholar Program funds up to 12 months of lectureship, post-doctoral research, or a combination of the two at a U.S. college or university with one fully covered dependent. Persons selected are expected to share information about Pakistani society and culture with students, colleagues, and community groups in the U.S. On returning to Pakistan, Fulbright scholars are expected to make a significant contribution to Pakistan’s development and share their U.S. experiences with students, colleagues, and community groups in Pakistan. The grant funds airfare, an incidental research allowance, a living stipend, and health insurance. USEFP will assist with the visa application process.

A platform that helps Pakistani students fulfill their dreams of studying in the United States and through unique educational and cultural exchange programs, USEFP provides opportunities for Pakistanis to study, research, and engage with international students, scholars, and professionals in the United States. Today, thousands of their alumni are finding solutions to shared global concerns and gaining leadership expertise to advance Pakistan’s development.

The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan was established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the United States.

USEFP is guided by a binational commission composed of an equal number of Pakistanis and Americans, with the Chair alternating each year between a Pakistani and an American. USEFP is one of 49 “Fulbright Commissions” located throughout the world. Since 1951, when the first group of Pakistani grantees traveled to America, and in 1952 when the first American grantees visited Pakistan, the USEFP has fostered mutual understanding between the people of Pakistan and the people of the United States through educational and cultural exchange. More than 8,000 Pakistanis and around 935 Americans have participated in USEFP-administered exchange programs.

The Foundation receives support and counsel from both the Pakistan and U.S. governments, but it is not an agency of either. The Foundation supervises a variety of programs that send Pakistani students and scholars to American campuses while bringing American scholars to universities in Pakistan. The goal of all USEFP programs is to help Pakistanis learn more about the U.S. and to help Americans learn more about Pakistan and its people.
