Call for fresh innovations for the FMN Prize for Innovation 2024!

The FMN Prize for Innovation project was created to support fresh perspectives and inventions in the food and agro-allied industries in Nigeria and around the continent, and to investigate how these might influence and facilitate the development of a sustainable food system in Nigeria.

Finding innovators in the food and agro-allied sectors who are actively and creatively advancing Nigeria’s achievement of food self-sufficiency will be the main goal of the third season of FMN – PFI. The Group, working with the PFI management team, will evaluate, test, and assess the procedures these players use. They will also offer winning concepts and content along with the tools and assistance required to gradually increase their company’s sustainability.

This year’s edition seeks innovative ways to develop and increase usage of local materials in the food industry, to meet local demands. FMN Prize for Innovation (PFI) season 3 Project Theme:

Driving Food Self-Sufficiency in Nigeria Through Precision Agriculture.

  • Category 1: Registered Businesses (Micro, Small & Medium Scale Enterprise Owners)
  • Category 2: Nigerian Students (Undergraduates & Post Graduates)

To enter this competition, there is no purchase required and no entry fee. An entrant signifies his or her acceptance of the terms and conditions by participating in the competition. Individuals may only submit one entry each contest. A single entry from the same person will not be accepted more than once. Any contest entries that are not full, incorrectly tagged, unreadable, ineligible, corrupted, misdirected, lost, delayed, or unable to be delivered or published for any other reason—including technical or transmission difficulties of any kind—will not be accepted. The organiser will evaluate each entry based on its merits and/or choose entries at random if they meet the requirements specified for the contest(s).

In the event that the winner cannot be reached, the organisers reserve the right to choose another winner, forfeit the prize, or give it to a charitable organisation. In the event of a disagreement, the organiser will have the last say and sole discretion over the winner’s entitlement. The decision made by the organiser is final, and no correspondence will be answered. All participants must agree to have their identities and social media platform identifiers (such as usernames, profile pictures, and/or uploaded photos) published on the appropriate social media platforms for publicity reasons as a requirement of entry.

Eligibilities

  • The Prize is open to residents of Nigeria aged 18 years or over except employees of the organizer and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition.
  • Only one entry will be accepted per person. Multiple entries from the same person will be disqualified.

Category 1: Registered Businesses (Micro, Small & Medium Scale Enterprise Owners):

  • Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) that are registered in Nigeria and operate in the agro-processing and food production space.
  • Your big idea and innovative solution must address the use of precision agriculture in boosting food production in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sector.
  • Your idea should have a solid proof-of-concept, a social or commercial purpose, and a clear roadmap to scale.

Category 2: Nigerian Students (Undergraduates & Post Graduates):

  • Nigerian Students (Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels)
  • Your big idea and innovative solution must address the use of precision agriculture in boosting food production in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sector.
  • Your idea has a solid proof-of-concept and a social or commercial purpose.

  • Your presentation should clearly indicate how your idea will utilize precision agriculture to boost food production in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sector.
  • Your entry must be accompanied by a proof of Business registration.

For Category 2: Nigerian Students (Undergraduates & Post Graduates):

  • Complete the form as instructed.
  • Upload a 60 seconds video on your Innovative techniques for Driving food self-sufficiency in Nigeria through precision agriculture.
  • Your presentation should clearly indicate how your idea will facilitate the use of precision agriculture to drive food self-sufficiency within the Nigerian food value chain.
  • Participants are encouraged to post their entries on social media – Follow and tag @FMNGroup and get your friends to engage the post.
