The Breakthrough Junior Challenge 2024 is an annual global science video competition for high-school students founded in 2015 by Julia and Yuri Milner 1. The competition aims to inspire creative thinking about science and encourages students to share their passion for math and science with the world . Participants are invited to create and submit original videos that bring to life a concept or theory in the life sciences, physics, or mathematics. The videos must be no longer than 2 minutes in length .
The competition consists of three rounds: qualification, pre-final, and final. The qualification round for Breakthrough Junior Challenge 2024 is scheduled to be held on September 17, 2024. The pre-final round will be held in October 2024, and the final round will be held online and supervised by the participants’ teachers .
The winners of the competition receive certificates, cash prizes, and an exciting, sponsored trip to the Breakthrough Prize ceremony in California 1. The winner’s teacher also receives a cash prize, and the winner’s school receives a state-of-the-art science lab worth $100,000 .
