Call For Application of Zayed Sustainability Prize 2024 Is Now Open!!

The Zayed Sustainability Prize is a global award that recognizes and rewards organizations and schools that have made significant contributions to sustainability. The Prize was established in 2008 by the United Arab Emirates in honor of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE. The Prize is awarded annually in five categories: Health, Food, Energy, Water, and Global High Schools. The Prize’s 2024 cycle is now open for submissions, and the deadline for entries is May 2, 2024. The Prize is open to small to medium enterprises, non-profit organizations, and high schools with sustainability solutions. The Prize’s $3 million fund rewards winners $600,000 in each category. The Global High Schools category is split into six world regions, with each school able to claim up to $100,000 to start or further expand their project. The Prize has facilitated the delivery of sustainable solutions to vulnerable communities, improving access to reliable and affordable energy, safe drinking water, nutritious food, and quality healthcare for millions. The Prize has impacted the lives of over 378 million people around the world, including in Vietnam, Nepal, Sudan, Ethiopia, Maldives, and Tuvalu. The Prize also prioritizes youth and empowers young people to lead in sustainable development. Through the Global High Schools category, the Prize provides opportunities for young people to build their skills in sustainability and leadership and encourages them to take an active role in supporting their communities and driving climate action

The Prize’s $3 million fund rewards winners $600,000 in each category. The Global High Schools category is split into six world regions, with each school able to claim up to $100,000 to start or further expand their project. The six world regions of the Global High Schools category are The Americas, Europe & Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and East Asia & Pacific.

Eligibilities

  • The applicant must be a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME), a nonprofit organization (NPO), or a global high school.
  • The solution provided by the applicant must be innovative, impactful, and inspiring.
  • The solution must be a novel solution or a transformation of an existing solution that solves a challenge or a need, generates value, and brings significant positive impact.
  • The solution must be technically and commercially viable and adopted by the market.
  • The solution must have had a positive impact on the quality of people’s lives.
  • The solution must be resilient to potential social, economic, technological, and environmental challenges.
  • The solution must involve good governance by employing skilled people and establishing fair policies.
  • The solution must reflect Sheikh Zayed’s core values, sustainability, and humanitarian efforts.
  • The solution must be able to inspire and influence others to advance sustainable and human development.
  • The solution must be able to further inspire sustainable actions from the wider community by instigating behavioral changes.
