The International Green Gown Awards are supported by the UN Environment Programme and are open to any university or college across the world. The Awards believe in students and the power of education and aim to help identify the best ideas and encourage others to take action.
In partnership with and endorsed by the UN Environment Program, they are looking for inspirational sustainability leaders. Recognizing exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by the world’s universities and colleges, the International Green Gown Awards set the bar and put every learning institution at the heart of delivering the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The International Green Gown Awards are supported by the UN Environment Program and are open to any university or college across the world.
The ethos of the International Green Gown Awards is to ensure the lessons and example of good practice are shared and will put universities and colleges as leaders in sustainability as well as being able to continue their learning from global leaders. The International Green Gown Awards are administered by EAUC.
There is no limit on the number of applications or categories each institution can enter. Entry is free of charge but we do ask for a suggested fee of $150 USD if your institution is able to do so. This donation helps us to continue delivering the Awards. Please make your donation here. If you are unable to use the donation site then please contact us for an invoice.

Eligibilities
- If the applicant’s region already has an existing Green Gown Awards program then they can only apply once to their regional Green Gown Award program and are NOT eligible to apply for the International Green Gown Awards.
- With the exception for the Creating Impact category. If their institution has a campus outside of these regions then the regional campus initiatives are eligible for entry.
