The EU Delegation to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva is offering funded traineeships of three to six months beginning in September/October 2026. These placements provide young graduates with practical exposure to the work of a diplomatic mission and the representation of EU interests in a multilateral context.

Opportunities are available across several sections, each with distinct responsibilities:
- Human Rights Section: drafting briefings, preparing reports, supporting logistics, and participating in Human Rights Council and Universal Periodic Review meetings.
- Economic Affairs, Development, Environment and Digital Section: assisting with UN agencies such as UNECE, ITU, UNCTAD, WIPO, UNEP, and WMO, preparing statements; drafting reports, and supporting official visits.
- Social Affairs and Labour Section: preparing analytical reports, supporting ILO-related activities, liaising with EU member states, and attending international meetings and conferences.
- Health Section: covering EU activities in WHO, preparing background notes and analytical reports, supporting health-related meetings, and maintaining communication with EU member states.
- Head of Delegation Section: assisting with cross‑policy work on crisis response, migration, and displacement, preparing briefing notes, and supporting missions and events.
Candidates must submit a Europass CV, a cover letter explaining their motivation, and the official application form.

Applications are restricted to one section per candidate, although the delegation may consider applicants for another section if their profile is suitable. Selected trainees will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses, but they are responsible for all travel, visa, insurance, and accommodation costs. Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered.
After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

Eligibilities
- MA degree in related fields (International Relations, European Studies, or studies pertinent to the specific section)
- Knowledge of the EU and the UN
- Excellent drafting skills in English; knowledge of French would be a strong advantage
- Previous internships or student or voluntary work in the specific area to which the candidate applies are considered an asset
