A defining aspect of the program is its strong mentorship model. Fellows learn directly from experienced entrepreneurs, strategists, and industry experts who bring diverse, field-tested insights. These mentors not only facilitate workshops but also provide personalized, one-on-one guidance, helping fellows refine their ideas, overcome challenges, and make strategic decisions throughout the program.
The fellowship runs from September 8, 2026, to January 21, 2027, beginning with an intensive virtual immersive experience that sets the foundation for the journey ahead. Over the following months, participants engage in structured weekly workshops held three times a week, alongside community-building sessions, mentorship opportunities, and hands-on project development. The program requires a consistent commitment of around 8–10 hours per week, making it rigorous yet manageable for active changemakers.

A central component of the experience is the “Basecamp” initiative, where fellows design and lead workshops within their own communities, extending the fellowship’s impact beyond individual participants. The program concludes with a Virtual Summit, where selected fellows present their ventures to an audience of global entrepreneurs, community leaders, and representatives from Ford Philanthropy.
The Ford Philanthropy Fellowship offers a dynamic and immersive environment that combines learning, collaboration, and practical implementation—equipping participants to drive meaningful, scalable change in their communities.
