Call for British Council Women in STEM Scholarships 2026-27 is open now!!!

The British Council Women in STEM Scholarship is a prestigious initiative designed to empower women from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue higher education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields in the United Kingdom. This fully funded scholarship aims to address the global gender gap in STEM by providing talented women with access to world-class education and research opportunities.

Get the Youth Opportunities iOS App here for the fully-funded opportunities.

The gender gap in STEM professions is well documented. Women make up a small fraction of the workforce and research teams, are published less, paid less, and are less likely to reach leadership positions than their male counterparts, despite being, on average, eight per cent more productive. Through this programme, the British Council seeks to increase opportunities for women in STEM, strengthen female leadership in science and innovation, and promote a more diverse and gender-representative sector.

The programme provides funding for one-year master’s degrees at leading UK universities, covering tuition fees, living expenses, travel costs, visa fees, health insurance, and English language support where required. Each scholarship is valued at a minimum of £40,000, making it a highly competitive and attractive opportunity for aspiring women in STEM.
