Call for The Association of Commonwealth Universities Gender Grants 2026 is open now!!!
ACU Gender Grants are awarded annually to member universities to support initiatives that will boost gender equity and equality on campus.
The grants can be used for a diverse range of projects, workshops, and events in areas such as:
- Supporting women in leadership
- Raising awareness of sexual harassment and developing anti-sexual harassment initiatives
- Supporting women in science and research
- Creating effective institutional policies
- Mainstreaming gender equity into the curriculum
- To help meet the costs of organising projects that promote gender equity and equality.

The ACU is working in partnership with the Martha Farrell Foundation to provide up to three of the five Gender Grants focused on creating effective anti-sexual harassment policies and strategies, drawing on the Foundation’s expertise in anti-sexual harassment initiatives. These grants are open to staff members of ACU member universities in Africa and Asia and include online training and follow-up online support from the Martha Farrell Foundation.

Application Process
- Be a staff member at an ACU member university.
- Review the FAQs/Application Guidance.
- Submit an application through the online application form.
- If you already have a MyACU account, you can access the grant application form directly using the “Apply Now” link, this form will be live once applications are open.
- If you do not already have a MyACU account, please ensure that you first register for an account and then follow the instructions in the registration email to log in to the system before accessing the application form
- To help meet the costs of organising projects that promote gender equity and equality.
The application form consists of the following sections:
- Eligibility
- Project focus
- Collaboration
- Statements
- Project details
- Upload supporting documents (including project plan timeline, project lead CV and confirmation of support)
The statement section is formed of seven statements which applicants need to complete. Each statement response should be 100-300 words in length.
Plagiarism is not allowed. Applications shown to be plagiarised will not be considered.
Statement 1: Describe the project aims and goals of the initiative
Statement 2: Describe how the project will be developed and delivered
Statement 3: What is the expected institutional impact after implementation of the initiative?
Statement 4: What outputs will be created and how will these be used?
Statement 5: How will the initiative be assessed and success be measured?
Statement 6: Please list how the funding will be used
Statement 7: Please provide details of any previous gender-related work you have undertaken

- The project must promote gender equity or equality within the university.
- Applicants should be actively working to advance gender equality at their institution.
