The Africa Impact Fundraising Grant (AIFG) Program is an new initiative by the New Africa Fund, aimed at empowering African NGOs, community-based organizations, and social enterprises to address the pressing need for funding and fundraising expertise.

Selected organizations will start with an online training program focused on small donor campaigns. They will then put their skills into action during a 30-day fundraising challenge, with the opportunity to secure up to $5,000 USD in matching funds. Top-performing organizations will be invited to their training center in Kigali, Rwanda, for a week-long intensive workshop covering critical aspects of fundraising – including financial management, marketing, communications, grant writing, donor research, cultivation and retention, individual donor campaigns, and local fundraising strategies.
The New Africa Fund (NAF) is a US public charity founded in 2021 to support local initiatives in Africa and promote sustainable, community-led change. Beginning with work in Togo, it has grown to partner with grantees across more than a dozen African countries. NAF works closely with local organizations, valuing their understanding of community needs. To move away from rigid, project-based funding, the Fund prioritizes unrestricted support, giving partners the flexibility to respond to emerging issues and strengthen their long-term impact. Through this flexible model, NAF empowers grassroots organizations to grow and create meaningful, lasting change.

Their grants are awarded through a competitive application process, and they support NGOs, community-based organizations (CBOs), and social enterprises across multiple fields. They evaluate all potential grantees as holistic entities, rather than simply as implementers. The NAF invests in organizations with a clear mission and vision and a strong track record of results, but who have often lacked the sustainable funding to achieve that vision. In short, the New Africa Fund is seeking local leaders who are developing creative solutions to local problems.

- Up to 70 organizations will receive foundational training on individual donor campaigns.
- Selected organizations will participate in a 30-day fundraising challenge, with up to $5,000 USD in matching funds available.
- All participating organizations will receive 12 months of free fiscal sponsorship from the New Africa Fund, with the possibility of extension.
- Up to 10 top-performing organizations will be invited to a week-long intensive workshop in Kigali to deepen their fundraising expertise.
- Additional performance-based fundraising opportunities will be provided as the program develops.
Eligibilities
- Applicant must be a legally registered NGO, community-based organization (CBO), or social enterprise.
- The organization must be registered in one of the 55 member states of the African Union.
- Must be able to participate in the programme’s activities, including the online training and the 30-day fundraising challenge.
