Call for His Majesty the King’s Scholarships for Doctoral Programs 2026 is open now!!

The Royal Thai Government Scholarships represent one of Thailand’s most significant educational initiatives, designed to strengthen advanced research capacity across Asia. Administered by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), these scholarships support doctoral and master’s level study for academically outstanding candidates from Thailand and other Asian countries. At the doctoral level, the flagship award is His Majesty the King’s Scholarship for Doctoral Programs. This scholarship is reserved for candidates with exceptional academic performance in both their undergraduate and master’s degrees, allowing them to pursue a PhD in any program under AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology (SET) or School of Environment, Resources, and Development (SERD). The Government of Thailand prioritizes applicants from

In addition to the doctoral awards, AIT also administers several Royal Thai Government scholarships at the master’s level, including His Majesty the King’s Scholarship, Her Majesty the Queen’s Scholarship, and the Loom Nam Khong Pijai (GMS) Scholarship. Eligibilities

  • Must be a citizen of an Asian country
  • Have an outstanding education record in a 4-year Undergraduate Program and 2-year Master’s Program from an accredited institution in related fields; GPA of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree ≥ 3.5 or equivalent
  • Two recommendation letters
  • Research proposal
  • Have an English proficiency score as required by AIT Language Center (IELTS 6.0 (Overall and Writing bands) or AIT EET ≥ 6.0)

Application Process

  • Applicants must create an online account, sign in, and start a new application through AIT’s admission portal.
  • A non-refundable application processing fee of US$25 (or Baht 800) is required for online applications, and applicants may apply to only one program at a time.
  • Completed applications remain valid for one year, and applicants can track their status or continue saved applications through the same portal.
