The Office of Academic Resources (OAR) at Chulalongkorn University invites applications from scholars and library and information professionals worldwide to join the Chula-Global Library Visiting Fellowship Program 2026. This two-month fellowship in Bangkok, Thailand, provides opportunities for collaborative projects or research in librarianship, information science, archival management, educational technology, scholarly communication or Thai and Southeast Asian Studies. Fellows may pursue one of two available tracks:

Track 1: (Professional Practice in Library or Information Science) For library and information professionals holding at least three years of relevant experience and engaged in hands-on library operations, service innovation, or digital initiatives. Fellows under this track will undertake a short collaborative project with OAR staff focusing on practical applications or service development in any of the following areas will receive priority consideration:
- Digital preservation and curation
- Research data management
- Multimedia, archive, or record Management
- Library Service, Scholarly communication, and technical services supporting
collections of less-dominant cultures or subcultures - Library, collection, digital repository management
- Data visualization or machine-learning applications in libraries and cultural institutions
Track 2: (Scholars and Researchers) For scholars holding terminal degrees in any disciplines. Fellows under this track must:
- Develop a co-authored academic paper or short research project on Thai and
Southeast Asian Studies using the OAR’s collections, particularly those at the Thailand
and ASEAN Information Center. - Show a consistent publication record in any of following fields: Thai Studies, Southeast
Asian Studies, or related studies, and a proven history of publishing in high-quality
international academic journals

The Chula-Global Library Visiting Fellowship Program 2026 is structured to offer flexibility to international participants. The program is a mandatory two-month, in-person engagement, and selected fellows are given the option to choose one of two distinct time windows that best aligns with their professional and institutional schedules. The two available two-month periods are Option 1: May 1 – June 30, 2026 ; Option 2: June 1 – July 31, 2026 .This optional timing ensures that researchers and library professionals from around the world can fully dedicate themselves to the intensive collaborative research and project work required during their stay at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.
At its core, the program is designed to facilitate high-level academic engagement. It uniquely supports the creation of joint projects and academic publications. The central idea is to pair visiting scholars and experts with the established resources and expertise found within the OAR. This two-month immersion period allows participants to move beyond casual collaboration, enabling them to delve into substantive, impactful research that culminates in publishable academic output. This focus on tangible, shared deliverables—whether co-authored papers or implemented project outcomes—sets the Chula-Global Library Fellowship apart as a results-oriented mechanism for global knowledge production.

- A comprehensive stipend of 230,000 THB (Thai Baht) is designed to help cover both pre-arrival and on-site expenses including visa fees, airfare, accommodation, travel and health insurance, and other program related costs.
- The stipend is subject to a 15% withholding tax under Thai tax regulations.
- Fellows will gain full access to the OAR’s specialized collections and resources, including the Thailand and ASEAN Information Center.
- Fellows will gain Engage in advanced international knowledge exchange on key topics like digital preservation, scholarly communication, and machine-learning applications in libraries.
- Develop cross-cultural professional competencies by working in an international setting at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.
- Opportunity to present their research in a knowledge-sharing session to the Chulalongkorn academic community.
Eligibilities
- Applicants must be non-Thai citizens.
- Applicants must demonstrate an open-minded and adaptable attitude, with readiness to work in a culturally diverse environment where English is not the native language.
- Applicants must be employed by a reputable university or institution for the full duration of the fellowship.
- Applicants must possess strong English language proficiency.
- Applicants must obtain approval from their home institution to participate in the program.
- Applicants must be available for the full duration of the program.
Application Process
- All application materials must be written in English and uploaded in PDF format. File size must
not exceed 10 MB per document. - Applicants must upload a current Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a photo.
- Applicants must submit a Project Proposal (2,000–5,000 words) is required, detailing clear objectives, expected deliverables and a timeline. The proposed work must be original and independent.
- An Institutional Permission Letter is necessary, confirming current employment and authorizing participation in the fellowship.
- Shortlisted candidates and interview details will be announced by January 16, 2026,
on the OAR website (https://www.car.chula.ac.th)
