Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) is a graduate research university located in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, established to develop AI for the benefit of humanity. MBZUAI was founded in 2019 and licensed by the Commission of Academic Accreditation (CAA), the official body of the UAE Government, in 2020, based on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, who believes in artificial intelligence as a force of both national and global development.

The university not only trains and produces the best talent, but also can serve as a think tank that gives the government a strategy, as well as assisting the private sector. Its activity complies with the national plan of AI in the UAE, which targets to make Abu Dhabi a global innovational center and a future-oriented industry.

Programs and Degrees: MBZUAI has a developing number of accredited degrees that integrate rigorous coursework with intensive research:

• Undergraduate: Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence (since 2025).
• Master’s degree programs: Applied Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Robotics, Statistics, and Data Sciences.
• Doctoral programs (PhD): Computer Science, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Robotics and Statistics, and Data Science.

MBZUAI is a research-driven institution. Its professors and students are frequently featured in the finest conferences like NeurIPS, CVPR, ICLR, and EMNLP. In 2023 alone, over 600 peer-reviewed articles were created, and hundreds more in 2024. These deliverables have made MBZUAI the 20th best in the world in specialized areas of AI such as computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, and machine learning.

Key initiatives include:

• The Center of Integrative Artificial Intelligence (CIAI) and special research centers.
• The projects, such as Jais, which is one of the largest Arabic large language models in the world, were to be used by the region and governments.
