The Latin America & the Caribbean Climate Fellowship (2025) is a transformative opportunity designed to support innovative entrepreneurs across the region who are addressing climate change through impactful ventures. Whether it’s tackling climate mitigation, adaptation, or resilience, this fellowship provides founders with the tools, training, and resources needed to accelerate their solutions and scale their impact. This fellowship empowers entrepreneurs across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). Founders gain expert training, critical resources to accelerate their ventures, and two one-week, in-person residencies in the region to accelerate their ventures.

The Latin America & the Caribbean Climate Fellowship aims to empower ventures that contribute to sustainable solutions in climate change. The fellowship focuses on entrepreneurs with ventures in sectors such as:
- Renewable Energy Generation and Storage
- Green Building Technologies
- Climate Data and Analytics
- Climate-Smart Agriculture and Food Systems
- WaterTech
- Blue Economy
This year’s program will host a cohort of up to 10 ventures, all founded by entrepreneurs from across Latin America and the Caribbean, specifically addressing critical environmental challenges. Over the course of the program, selected fellows will receive invaluable support in scaling their ventures.

Program Structure
The fellowship provides an immersive learning experience, delivered through a combination of virtual and in-person interactions. The structure of the program is as follows:
- Virtual Kickoff Meeting: Begin the fellowship by joining a virtual meeting to set the stage for the next few months.
- Residency in Mexico City, Mexico: In late August, fellows will spend one week in Mexico City for hands-on learning and connection building.
- Monthly Virtual Meetings: These virtual sessions will cover key topics such as investment readiness, product-market fit, and leadership.
- Residency in Colombia: In November, fellows will have a second in-person residency in Colombia, further immersing themselves in the regional climate tech ecosystem.
The fellowship will bring together a select group of up to ten early-stage ventures led by entrepreneurs working to tackle the climate crisis in the LAC region. Founders will receive intensive training based on Halcyon’s proven methodologies in areas like market positioning, fundraising strategy, and organizational leadership. The program includes a virtual orientation session, a one-week residency in Mexico City, monthly online meetings, and a second in-person residency in Colombia.
The program timeline includes several key milestones: applications close on May 30, 2025. Finalists will be invited to pitch virtually to a selection committee between June 30 and July 1, with final decisions communicated by July 8. The fellowship officially kicks off with a virtual meeting on August 15, followed by the first in-person residency in Mexico City from August 25–29. Additional virtual sessions are scheduled for September 25, October 23, and November 6, leading up to the second residency in Colombia from November 17–21.

Each program includes specific benefits to fellows. Fellows accepted into the program will receive the following:
- $5,000 USD equity-free stipend: Use this funding for travel expenses to attend both residencies in Mexico and Colombia.

Eligibilities
This fellowship is designed for for-profit startups based in Latin America or the Caribbean that are focused on scalable solutions to climate change. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Venture location: Be based in or serve Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Stage of development: Have at least a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with potential for scale.
- Full-time commitment: Be working full-time on your venture.
- Team: You may apply with one co-founder. The applicant must be the CEO or hold primary decision-making authority within the company.
- Language proficiency: Must be fluent in English (the program is delivered in English).
- Age: Applicants must be at least 21 years old by the start of the program.
- Impact: Must be developing a product or service that contributes to one or more of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Commitment: Be able to engage fully in all activities, including virtual meetings and in-person residencies.
Application Process
The application process is simple and can be completed online. Ensure your venture meets the eligibility criteria and submit your application between now and May 30th, 2025.
- Apply: Complete the online application form by the deadline.
- Pitch: Finalists will pitch their ventures to a selection committee during the Virtual Pitch on June 30th-July 1st, 2025.
- Notification: Selected fellows will be notified by July 8th, 2025.
Selection Criteria
Halcyon will evaluate applications based on four main criteria:
- Impact: How meaningful is the potential environmental or societal impact of the solution if scaled?
- Scalability: Can the venture scale to reach hundreds of thousands or even millions of users within the next 5-10 years?
- Innovation: How novel and original is the solution in addressing the identified climate challenge?
- Talent: Does the team have the right skills and experience to successfully tackle the challenges they have identified?
