The National Press Club (NPC) and the NPC Journalism Institute are committed to fostering the next generation of journalists. They administer a range of scholarships, including the Scholarship for Journalism Diversity Honoring Julie Schoo. This scholarship, named after the former executive director of the NPC Journalism Institute, is designed to encourage diversity in journalism. It offers a $5,000 award for one year, which can be renewed for up to three years, providing a total of $20,000 towards educational expenses.

Student journalists, much like their professional counterparts, are dedicated to covering their communities across various platforms. Balancing academic responsibilities, part-time jobs, and journalistic activities can be challenging. The NPC and NPC Journalism Institute recognize these efforts by offering scholarships to promising future journalists.

The NPC Journalism Institute is a non-profit affiliate of the National Press Club. It promotes an engaged global citizenry through an independent and free press and equips journalists with the skills and standards necessary to inform the public in ways that inspire a more representative democracy.
