Tampere University Scholarships Programme is intended for students who are required to pay tuition fees in Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes offered in English. Finland Scholarship is available for applicants to Master’s programmes.
Tampere University tuition fee scholarships awarded at admission cover 100% of the tuition fees for the programme duration. The programme duration is
three years for Bachelor’s degrees
two years for Master’s degrees
five years if the study right is granted for both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree.

Tampere University awards a Tampere University tuition fee scholarship for the second year of studies to all recipients of the Finland scholarship. The scholarship covers 100 % of tuition fees in the second year of studies.
The prerequisite for retaining the Tampere University tuition fee scholarship throughout the programme duration is progressing in studies at the normative pace. In order to retain the full tuition fee scholarship in the following year of studies, the recipient must earn at least 55 credits during the academic year as detailed in the personal study plan. If a scholarship recipient completes 50-54 credits during the academic year, his or her scholarship will be reduced to 50% in the following academic year. If a scholarship recipient completes less than 50 credits during the academic year, he or she will be charged the full tuition fee in the following academic year. These conditions also apply to the Tampere University tuition fee scholarship awarded for the second year of studies to recipients of the Finland scholarship.
Fee-paying applicants applying for admission through transfer or open university route applications are eligible to apply for Tampere University tuition fee scholarships at admission. To be considered for the scholarship, you must apply for the scholarship as part of your application for admission in Studyinfo.fi during the application period for admission. Information on transfer and open university applications is available on the web pages of those programmes to which these application routes apply.

- During studies, all fee-paying students are eligible to apply for Tampere University tuition fee scholarships which cover 50% of tuition fees. This scholarship is awarded to a fee-paying student who completes at least 55 ECTS credits in an academic year. Scholarships are awarded after the first year of studies for one year at a time upon application. Tampere University tuition fee scholarships which cover 100 % of tuition fees are not awarded during studies.
- You may be awarded the International Advancement Scholarship if you complete at least 60 ECTS of studies included in your degree within the academic year or graduate from your degree within the target time for completion (three years for a Bachelor’s degree and two years for Master’s).
- It is a 1500 € scholarship paid to the student in the autumn semester following the academic year in question or upon graduation. It is possible to earn the scholarship more than once during the normative study time for your degree(s). The Tampere University International Advancement Scholarship is available for students who are admitted to Tampere University in 2021 or later.
Eligibilities
When applying to a bachelor’s programme at Tampere University, you must submit evidence that you have a good command of the English language for academic purposes. You have two options for demonstrating your English language proficiency: language tests OR previous studies.
In both cases you must submit a document as a proof of language skills.
When applying to a bachelor’s programme in the joint application to higher education, the language test must be completed no later than 18 January 2023, the application deadline.

It is possible to be exempted from submitting a language test score if you have completed the specified studies listed by Tampere University that demonstrate your good command of English for academic purposes. If you apply without a valid language test result, carefully examine the exemptions below. Only studies that fulfill the criteria below will be accepted.
If you request an exemption from submitting a language test based on a Finnish or international matriculation examination, you must submit a scanned copy of the diploma as documentation confirming your English language proficiency. If you are offered a study place, you must deliver certified copies of your educational documents by post after the student selection.
You will not be required to take a language test if you have completed an upper secondary degree or a university degree taught in English in an EU/EEA country, Switzerland, the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand.
You will not be required to take a language test if you have completed a degree at a Finnish university or university of applied sciences that includes compulsory studies in the English language and thereby demonstrates your language proficiency as set out in the Government Decree on University Degrees (Section 6; 794/2004) and the Government Decree on Universities of Applied Sciences (Section 7; 1129/2014).
Your degree certificate, official transcript of records, diploma supplement or other official document issued by the awarding institution must list the studies you have completed that have been taught in English.
A minimum of 25 credits earned by completing English-taught courses at Tampere University in the space of a single semester before the application deadline.

Application Process
- Check the eligibility criteria, admission procedure and documents needed listed on each programme’s admission criteria in Studyinfo.fi.
- Read through the instructions on how to apply and start preparing your application documents as early as possible!
- For SAT tests, find a test centre and register for the SAT test well in advance (if applying in the admission group I) or take a language test if required (if applying in the admission group II).
- Please see the language requirements.
- Fill in the online application at Studyinfo.fi during the application period and upload the required attachments to the application. The application period begins on 4 January 2023 at 8.00 UTC +2 and ends on 18 January 2023 at 15.00 UTC +2.
- Remember to upload all required attachments on the application form, by 25 January 2023 at 15.00 UTC +2 or by a separate deadline as instructed in the section “Application documents”.
- Applicants applying to the programmes in Science and Engineering, if you have delivered the SAT test result and meet the minimum score required, wait for your invitation to the online interview and participate the interview in March-April.
- You can apply for a scholarship on the application form, during the application period, if applicable.
- Wait for the admission results to be announced.
- If you are offered a study place, remember to accept it, and send certified copies of your educational documents by post. Please note given deadlines. Pay the tuition fee if required.
