The CSC Research Impact Awards (RIA) celebrate the research and publication endeavors of Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni at the early and mid-career research stages. The annual awards are offered through two streams and promote the important research undertaken by doctoral Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni and its value to international development.

Offered to current doctoral Scholars and alumni up to 10 years post-thesis submission date, the awards encourage doctoral Scholarship recipients to share their research publications and their application and implementation in a development setting.
As part of the CSC’s ongoing work promoting the contributions of Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni in tackling climate change impact, this year the annual topical prize will be awarded for research that addresses clean energy or conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas, and marine resources.
The CSC Research output stream seeks to reward research published by current doctoral Scholars and alumni up to five years post-thesis submission date and the important real-world relevance of this and its potential impact in addressing global challenges related to the entrant’s field of study and home country.
The awards will be judged by a panel of experts and advisers appointed by the CSC. The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. The award winner(s), and any entrants who are given commendations, should be willing to provide a photograph of themselves and participate in relevant promotional coverage and opportunities which may be undertaken by the CSC. The award winner(s) for the Research output stream and the topical prize will be awarded a conference grant to attend and participate in an academic conference or research event they would otherwise not be able to attend. To receive the grant, the winner(s) must submit a grant application. The grant funds must be used by 31 March 2023. Grant funds not used by this date will be forfeited.

Eligibilities
- To enter the 2022 RIA Research output stream, the applicant must be currently studying for a Ph.D. or have completed your Ph.D. five years before the awards opening (i.e. submitted your thesis from 1 May 2017 onwards).
Application Process
- To enter, the applicant must complete the application form and upload a pre-publication final copy of your article in PDF format (including proof of acceptance if not yet published) as part of your application.
