Student To Start Up: Chapter 1 (BUTEX Phase) 2019

ICT Division, Bangladesh has taken initiatives to promote Entrepreneurship and startup culture among the university students to face the technological challenges of an unexpected future through unlocking their potential supporting them in all means so that they can innovate their own solutions and provide jobs to others instead of looking for one.
On 15th March, 2018. ‘Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy(iDEA)’ project bearing the flag of Startup Bangladesh Initiative signed an MoU with ‘Center for Research and Information(CRI)’, the secretariat of country’s largest youth network ‘Young Bangla’ to take the initiative for the first time titled as ‘Student to Startup – Season 1’. This is a national competition specially designed and open for all University Students (Undergraduate/post-graduate) of Bangladesh to bring their ideas of real life solutions into reality. This Competition will be distributed in multiple levels. Starting from the online registration process where a team of three students can apply through an online registration form. Then the preliminary selection will be done and teams consisting 1-3 members will get a chance to be enrolled in a single day intense workshop followed up with a day long Initial pitching which will take place in 40 universities(8 divisions). Any team can apply for a spot in their nearby/own/suitable venue for the workshop. The preliminary selection may be done through the online application or offline Demo-Pitch(only if needed).
Then comes a three day long workshop for only the selected 20 teams per venue will consist a short inauguration ceremony sessions on solving real life problems using or innovating any technology which can make life easier and profitable, developing own business model, unlocking leadership potential, forming own startup based on the solution and other entrepreneurial skills following up with a Pitching session and a prize giving ceremony as closing. Best 3-5 teams will earn the ‘Invitation Card’ to join the National Startup Camp in Dhaka.
Top teams invited from each venue will get the life changing opportunity of participating in this three days in-house boot camp where they’ll receive real life learning experience of how to run a company, the challenges one may face in future as well as developing efficiency to unlock the true potential. This camp will also consist showcasing, demo development, interactive mentor-ship from the country’s bests and a pitching session. Only 20 teams will earn the ‘Ticket to the Grand Finale’ of the Student to Startup – Season 1.
The Grand Finale will be an unique opportunity for a student to pitch his/her own startup in front of the national leaders from different sectors. Consisting a showcasing session & on stage pitch this grand event will celebrate the startup culture of Bangladesh with its own startup ecosystem.
Only top 10 national winners will be crowned in the Prize Giving Ceremony and will go through to receive the necessary support and funding through the processes of startup incubation and acceleration in a same platform and the teams completing the whole process successfully is thought to be the country’s next big startup.
