Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh is pleased to announce the MEXT Japanese Studies Students Scholarship for Bangladeshis in Japan 2020.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho/MEXT) of the Government of Japan offers scholarships to foreign students who wish to study at Japanese universities and schools. Only Bangladeshi citizens can apply for these programs through the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh. All application should be submitted to the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships to international students who wish to study for a period of one year at designated Japanese universities as Japanese Studies Students in order to deepen their understanding of the Japanese language, Japanese affairs and Japanese culture under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program as follows.
MEXT accepts applications from international students to study in Japan who satisfy the following qualifications and conditions. Its aim is to foster human resources who will become bridges of friendship between the grantee’s country and Japan through study in Japan and who will contribute to the development of both countries and the wider world.
Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan. An applicant who has Japanese nationality at the time of application is not eligible. However, persons with dual nationality who hold Japanese nationality and whose place of residence at the time of application is outside of Japan are eligible to apply as long as they choose the nationality of the other country and renounce their Japanese nationality by the date of their arrival in Japan. The First Screening must be conducted at the Japanese diplomatic mission in the country of which the applicant chooses the nationality.

Applicants must have Japanese language ability sufficient for receiving education at a Japanese university in Japan.
Program Duration: 1 year.
Departure Date: 2020 September-October.
Exam and Interview Date: TBC (2020 February)

- Allowance worth 117,000 yen will be given per month;
- Fees for the entrance examination, matriculation and tuition at universities will be paid by MEXT;
- Some travel expenses including airline tickets will be provided to grantees who shall complete the study course at the accepting university.
Eligibilities
- Applicants, in principle, must be undergraduates at foreign (non-Japanese) universities at the time of arriving in
and leaving Japan; - Those who are majoring in fields related to the Japanese language and/or Japanese culture;
- Those who are majoring in fields of study other than Japanese language and culture (such as engineering,
economics, agricultural science, architecture, and art) and pursuing complementary studies in the Japanese language
and culture are ineligible; - Those who have studied Japanese Studies at a university for a total period of one year or more as of September
1, 2020; - Those who have studied Japanese Studies at another university should submit documents (transcript of
grades at another university, etc.) which can verify that the applicant has studied Japanese Studies for a total
period of one year or more at the attended universities including current university.
