The American Center at U.S. Embassy Dhaka is pleased to announce the Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) for Secondary School Educators program, which will take place in summer 2018. The SUSI program is a five-week exchange program sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.
This intensive short-term academic program will include an academic residency component of approximately four weeks and a domestic study tour of approximately one week. The program is focused on providing materials for participants to develop high school level curricula in the United States. Through a combination of traditional and interdisciplinary approaches, program content will impact the history and evolution of U.S. institutions and values. The Institute will also address contemporary political, social, and economic debates in American society and may be organized around a central theme or themes.

Eligibilities
- Has capacity and interest to strengthen curricula and to enhance the quality of teaching about the United States in secondary schools
- Be mature, responsible, independent, confident, open-minded, tolerant, thoughtful and inquisitive
- Clearly, demonstrate how participation in the Institute will enhance U.S. studies at the participant’s home institution
- Indicate a serious interest in learning about the United States
- Commit to returning to their home organizations following completion of the program
- Have a sustained high level of professional achievement, as indicated in awards and recommendations
- Have demonstrated commitment to bring constructive changes in national curriculum
- Have had little or no prior study or travel experience in the United States or elsewhere outside of Bangladesh
- Have computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, internet browsing, online teaching aids, and email correspondence)
- Be willing and able to fully participate in an intensive post-graduate level academic program
- Be comfortable with campus life, prepared to share living accommodations, and able to make adjustments to cultural and social practices different from those of their home country

- Each application must include a letter of recommendation from either a department head or faculty dean and a passport-sized photograph
