IOM is looking for a National Programme Officer (Programme Support) 2020

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Emergencies and Displacement Unit (EDU), and the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, the successful candidate will provide specialized assistance to the unit with a focus on overall programme support, which include reporting, drafting TPs, papers, briefs and presentations, undertaking external communications, representing IOM, and supporting general coordination and liaison work.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Assist EDU on a regular basis on the issues related to the daily running of the unit.
• Provide strategic input while prepare briefing materials, including TPs, PPT presentations, etc for Rohingya response related events and meetings in consultation with Project Support Unit in CXB and Manager, EDU.
• Prepare talking points for the Rohingya response across the management structure from Dhaka to Geneva.
• Maintain close collaboration and working arrangements with relevant stakeholders such as Government entities, NGOs, INGOs, UN agencies, etc. to enhance coordination.
• Provide inputs and assistance for the preparation of new project/ programme proposals for the Mission’s engagement and undertake necessary donor liaison.
• Participate in meetings when required and circulate notes for the file on topics discussed.
• Lead the organization of meetings, workshops, training events and conferences with partners, UN agencies, etc. at the national and field levels.
• Conduct desk research and prepare background information to support coordination.

• Provide technical guidance to the Communications team in updating the mission’s website and social media presence in issues relevant to the unit.
• Prepare material and update the mission’s website and social media presence in issues relevant to the unit.
• Participate in a discussion on thematic issues related to climate migration and displacement.
• Undertake duty travel relating to project/programme activities, as required.
• Perform such other duties that may be assigned by the Manager and CoM.

Eligibilities

  • Completed university degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in Business Studies, Development Studies, Sociology, International relations, Economics;
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in project implementation, Previous experience in an international organization is an advantage;
  • At least one (1) year experience in a humanitarian context;
  • Strong coordination, negotiation, mobilizing and facilitation skills;
  • Proficient in computer applications;
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds;
  • Proficient in the English and Bangla language.
