Applications are now open for AUW Science Summer School 2019. The program aims to help launch aspiring female scientists and mathematicians.
The AUW Science Summer School, powered by Chevron, is a residential program that helps launch aspiring female scientists and mathematicians into top universities and careers. During five weeks of engaging math and physics lessons, mentorship from experts, and learning with like-minded students, you will be prepared to hit the ground running as a math, or physics student at the university level. As a graduate of the AUW Science Summer School, you will leave with a powerful network of friends and mentors who are as committed to STEM education and careers as you are.
Through fun projects, games and lessons, you will explore:
- Statistics for Global Health
- Classical Mechanics
- Electricity & Magnetism
- SAT Preparation and MORE!

- The students will be taught by doctoral candidates from Stanford and other top American research universities.
- When the students leave, they will receive a Certificate for Merit from AUW and Chevron.
- Top performing students will receive invitations to enroll at AUW as undergraduate students and may be eligible to secure partial or full scholarship support depending on their demonstrated financial need.
- The top performing student will receive the AUW-Chevron Emerging Women Leader in STEM award.
Eligibilities
Eligibility Criteria
- Female students sitting for the O level/SSC or equivalent exam in 2019
- Female students in the A level/Class XI or equivalent grade
- Female students sitting for the A level/HSC or equivalent exam in 2019
Selection Criteria and weighting
- 40% Science and Maths scores in O level/SSC or equivalent examination
- 25% Science and Maths awards
- 25%participation in Science and Maths extracurricular activities
- 10% career and higher education goals as stated in the application form
Application Process
The last date to apply is 30th April 2019. You may select one of two ways to submit your application. AUW treats both equally in the admissions process.

Through the online application platform, you submit basic information about your background, academic profile, and extracurricular activities, as well as short answers a series of questions about your interest and aptitude in science and math.

If AUW conducted a visit to your school, you may pick up a paper-based application form from your school administrators. Alternatively, you may pick up a paper-based application from the AUW Office of Admissions during regular business hours:
