WFP is looking for Logistics Associate (Food Safety & Quality), SC6, 2025 in Sylhet
Job Responsibilities:
1. In close coordination with the Food Technologist based in Dhaka Country Office, provide specialized support on Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) activities, following standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
2. Co-ordinate Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) assessments, monitoring and periodic evaluation of all suppliers and processors (e.g. fortified biscuit manufacturer, sterilized milk processors, bread bun manufacturers, eggs and fruit suppliers). Review and verify Food Safety and Quality Management Systems (FSQMS), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and relevant certifications (e.g. ISO 22000, BSTI).
3. Support the capacity building of WFP staff and partners for efficient and effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries (e.g. through the design and review of training materials). Provide on-the-job training to warehouse staff, CPs, and transporters on food handling and safety. Monitor and verify cooperating partners’ procurement processes for fresh fruits and eggs to ensure alignment with WFP food safety and quality standards and national regulatory requirements.
4. Conduct regular field assessments of supplier and cooperating partners performance, including hygiene practices, traceability systems, and food safety controls, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
5. Review and strengthen partners’ procedures for handling, transportation, and storage of perishable items, promoting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Good Handling Practices (GHP), and cold chain integrity.
6. Identify recurring food safety risks or inefficiencies in the handling of perishable items and provide targeted technical guidance and corrective action plans. Facilitate periodic refresher trainings and on-site coaching for CP staff, suppliers, and school personnel to enhance food safety awareness and improve operational practices.
7. In the event of food safety incidents, support the Country Office’s investigation exercises to enable lessons learned to be documented and shared, to reduce re-occurrence of the incident.

Eligibilities
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Completion of University Degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) is required. Education in Food science, Food Technology/Engineering, Agriculture, Nutrition or any other relevant field is preferable.
- Experience: At least 6 years of experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, Food Technology, Supply Chain Management (food sector) or in any related field.
- Language: Fluency in spoken and written both in English and Bangla language.
