British Council is hiring Communications Expert 2020 in Dhaka.
The Communications Expert will provide remote support to the National Communications Specialist and the PROKAS Team (with potential travel to Bangladesh if the COVID-19 situation allows). In collaboration with the National Communication Specialist, the Communication Expert will:
- Design the PROKAS Communications Strategy in collaboration with the National Communications Expert.
- Communicate advocacy efforts on specific advocacy priorities, engaging policymakers, practitioners, working groups, academic partners, the media and the public.
- Identify communication opportunities to strengthen partnerships between the Government of Bangladesh, private sector, NGO’s and communities in Bangladesh to maximise opportunities for securing advocacy successes
- Communicate the PROKAS Programme globally
British Council Bangladesh is the Bangladeshi branch of the British Council that provides English and British Education and takes part in cultural exchanges. The main office is located in Dhaka and branches are located in Chittagong, Sylhet. Tom Miscioscia is the Director of British Council Bangladesh.

Eligibilities
- Graduate degree in marketing/communications/media and journalism, or equivalent
- Professional qualification in digital communications, digital media or equivalent or training/qualification in communications for development or behaviour change communications are preferred.
- At least 8 years’ experience and proven track record of delivery of corporate communications, communications for development, behaviour change communications, media planning.
- Strong writing and content creation skills with evidence of creativity and innovation to deliver strategic campaigns.
- Experience of reporting on reach and impact through offline and online channels.
- Excellent knowledge of digital media platforms
- Knowledge of Thinking and Working Politically methodology
- Exceptional attention to detail, ability to work quickly and independently, prioritise, meet strict deadlines, and be flexible.
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Knowledge and understanding about current trends in accountability and transparency in Bangladesh and of best practice elsewhere preferred.
