Programme Description:
BRAC’s Health, Nutrition and Population Programme (HNPP) promotes a broad concept of health among disadvantaged communities through a combination of preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative health services. Healthcare interventions have been an integral aspect of BRAC’s holistic approach to development. BRAC’s health interventions are rooted in a community-driven approach and focus on empowering people through knowledge and services for improved access to quality healthcare.
Project Description:
The South Asian Policy Leadership for Improved Nutrition and Growth (SAPLING) project aims to raise awareness on healthy, affordable and accessible diets all across South Asia. With a three-pronged approach, SAPLING engages in policy advocacy, creation and maintenance of a knowledge hub, and facilitation of technical collaboration. The platform strives to foster regional
collaborations to bring greater visibility to food system issues and to influence policy actions. The prime goal of this work is to enable the adoption of a ‘food systems approach to solving all forms of malnutrition in alignment with the SDGs. The SAPLING Secretariat is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and is currently hosted by the Health, Nutrition and Population Programme at BRAC. Priority countries for the current phase of funding include Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Intern’s Responsibilities
- Developing visual content (infographics, charts, illustrations, etc.) for the SAPLING website
- Designing knowledge products (reports, articles, etc.) for the SAPLING website
- Contributing in developing and writing knowledge products
- Conducting desk research and collate content for a knowledge repository
- Supporting the supervisor on urgent projects and assignments
BRAC is an international development organisation based in Bangladesh. In order to receive foreign donations, BRAC was subsequently registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau of the Government of Bangladesh.

Eligibilities
Educational Background
Level: 3rd or 4th-year undergraduate student or Bachelor’s degree
Subject: Any discipline from any reputed University
Language Proficiency
- Bangla: Spoken: Fluent, Written: Good
- English: Spoken: Fluent, Written: Advanced
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
- Knowledge of global and national trends in designing and visual storytelling
- Knowledge of food, agriculture, and nutrition (not necessary but preferable)
- Capable of making sense out of quantitative data
- Strong graphic designing skills (Adobe Suite)
- IT skills (MS Office)
- Proactive
- Analytical ability
- Organised
- Results-driven
Work/Volunteering Experience:
Must have prior volunteer/freelancing experience in writing and designing
